6-21-18 Notice

 NOTICE is hereby given that the Zoning Hearing Board (ZHB) of Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., at the Lower Allen Township Municipal Services Center, 2233 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania to consider:

  1. Docket #2018-04 – The application of Tony and Caryn Samento, P.O. Box 383, Dillsburg, PA is requesting a variance from Section 220-24.A. (2) of the Code of the Township of Lower Allen to construct a garage attached to a single family home at 1425 Main Street, Mechanicsburg PA that would reduce the minimum side yards total of 20’ by 2.25’.

  1. Any matters of general business and to deliberate upon any such matters which are pending before the ZHB and which are appropriate for consideration at a public meeting.

Road Closures

Bridge Construction Update

A bridge that carries Andersontown Road (State Route 4033) over Yellow Breeches Creek in Fairview and Lower Allen Township at the Cumberland-York County line, closed to all traffic this morning.  Traffic is now detoured around the bridge closure.  The bridge should reopen in late November.

Construction Rescheduled to Begin August 6 on Andersontown Road Bridge over Yellow Breeches

Bridge to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership

Harrisburg, PA – Construction for the bridge carrying Andersontown Road (State Route 4033) over Yellow Breeches Creek, located between Fairview and Lower Allen townships at the Cumberland-York County line, has been rescheduled to begin on Monday, August 6.  The bridge had been scheduled to close for construction on Monday, July 30, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

When the bridge closes for full replacement, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along State Route 4022, Lewisberry Road, Siddonsburg Road, Moores Mountain Road, State Route 4031, Grandview Avenue and State Route 2017. Construction is anticipated to be complete in late November.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may still change. 

This bridge is referred to as JV-308 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.

The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.

 Construction Scheduled to Begin on Spanglers Mill Road Bridges in Lower Allen, Fairview Townships

Bridges to be replaced as part of Public-Private Partnership

 Harrisburg, PA – Construction for two bridges carrying Spanglers Mill Road (State Route 2031) over the Yellow Breeches Creek in Fairview Township – and a Mill Race in Lower Allen Township at the Cumberland-York County line are scheduled to begin the week of June 11 – as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

When both bridges close for full replacement, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Lisburn Road (SR 2017), Route 114 and back on to Spanglers Mill Road (SR 4027). Construction of both bridges will be complete in November.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
