MINUTES
RECREATION AND PARKS BOARD: LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP
REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 28, 2016

Mr. Mahon called the September 28, 2016 Regular Meeting of the Recreation and Parks Board to order at 7:00 pm.
MEETING MINUTES
Mr. GROVE made a motion to approve the August 24, 2016 meeting minutes. Mr. KAISER seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Lower Allen Community Park
Mrs. Paul spoke about an Eagle Scout project that included painting a concession stand, a restroom area and landscaping.
LIAISON REPORT – COMMISSIONER YOUNG:
There was no liaison report.
RECREATION AND PARKS STAFF REPORT/ACTIVITIES REPORT:
Mrs. Paul discussed the following activities from her monthly memo:
- Proposals in for the Fun Fort design-selection of consultant.
- Shuffle board & four square completed at Highland Park and Playground. Also, 2 park benches will be installed at the park.
- Fall softball, baseball and soccer are going on at LACP.
- Dillsburg Shootout Soccer Tournament will take place on October 8th & 9th. Trinity High School had 5 Cross Country home events at LACP this fall.
Mrs. Paul spoke about the tasks the Parks Staff worked on including vegetation spraying at Township parks. Mr. Kaiser spoke about the new requirements for spraying if more than 20 acres, including requiring a NPDES permit. Discussion ensued.
OLD BUSINESS
Priority List from Park Tours
Mr. Mahon spoke about presenting their priority list to the Board of Commissioners early this month. He received positive feedback. Mr. Grove discussed some of the items in the current budget.
Rain Garden
Mrs. Paul spoke about the rain garden and the clean-up day they had early this month. She stated Ms. Parry asked if they could plan another clean-up day and would email the Board about dates and times.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Duncanson asked about the Fun Fort master plan they did a few years ago. He spoke about how hot the summer was this year and the possibility of a water spray park near the Fun Fort. Mrs. Paul will bring the master plan to the next meeting.
Mrs. Paul stated she would have the schedule for next year’s activities and meetings at the October meeting. She will also have pictures of playground equipment for the tot lot for Sheepford Crossing for the Board to review at the next meeting.
