2018 Public Safety Citizens Academy Application

As you see a police car, fire engine, or ambulance responding with lights and sirens, have you ever wondered about the public safety services performed by members of those Lower Allen organizations? Well, the Lower Allen Township Department of Public Safety is announcing the very first “Public Safety Citizen’s Academy” to inform, and orient Township residents to those services.

Over a twelve-week period, the participants will learn about the Lower Allen Township Police Department, Emergency Medical Service, Fire Departments (Lisburn and Lower Allen), and Office of Emergency Management, from a variety of its members serving many roles. Topics will include patrol operations, criminal investigation, use of force, firearms, defensive tactics, forensics, identity theft, community emergency management, speed enforcement, DUI enforcement, fire prevention, fire training, fire operations, EMS training, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Community CPR, as well as many others.

Citizen’s Academy classes will be held Monday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Lower Allen Township Emergency Operations Center located at 2233 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill. Only twenty applicants, maximum are admitted during this course. Attendees must be at least 18 years of age, graduated from high school, and be free of any disqualifying criminal record.
