MINUTES

RECREATION AND PARKS BOARD:                           LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP

REGULAR MEETING:                                                      NOVEMBER 20, 2019

Ms. Parry called the November 20, 2019 Regular Meeting of the Recreation and Parks Board to order at 7:00 pm.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. PELLES moved to approve the minutes from the October 23, 2019 meeting.  Mr. GROVE seconded the motion.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:  ALLENDALE/CREEKWOOD

No one from the public is present to comment. Mrs. Hayden reported that tree trimming and leaf collection is ongoing and will hopefully be completed by the time it snows.

 

LIASON REPORT – COMMISSIONER HOLTZMAN

Commissioner Holtzman is absent so there is no liaison report.

 

RECREATION AND PARKS STAFF REPORT

Mrs. Hayden provided the following Parks Operation Staff update: 

• The volunteer project of construction of a gaga pit has been completed at Sheepford. It is similar to the one built at Highland but located on a grassy area.
• Water and restrooms located at Township parks have been closed for the winter season. They will reopen in April of 2020.
• Over seeding and fertilization has been completed on the athletic fields.
• Two kiosks at CSRP and Creekwood have been vandalized. This required new Plexiglas to be purchased and installed at a cost of $270.

 

ACTIVITIES REPORT

Mrs. Hayden provided the following Activities update: 

The Lisburn New Year’s Eve Committee Volunteers are planning the annual New Year’s Eve party at the Barn at LACP, starting at 8 pm. Little Breechie will drop at 10:00 pm for the kids and the Big Breeches will drop at midnight. Light refreshments will be provided along with games and giveaways. This year the new outdoor lighted flagpole will be utilized for the drop. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

NEW BUSINESS

The Parks and Recreation meeting schedule for 2020 was discussed along with recommended activities. The annual Egg Hunt is scheduled for April 4, 2020. The Gardner’s Gathering is scheduled for April 25, 2020. Plans for these events will be further discussed at the February 2020 meeting.

Mrs. Hayden stated that the only member with a term expiring in 2019 is Mr. Duncanson and he has agreed to continue serving for another term. She asked Board Members to review their contact information provided, for accuracy.
