Act 167-Stormwater Management Ordinance

Lower Allen Township will be replacing the existing Act 167 Stormwater Management Ordinance with a newly amended Stormwater Management Ordinance. The ordinance is modeled after the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (PADEP) 2022 Model Stormwater Ordinance and the update is a requirement of the Township’s permit with PADEP. The new Stormwater Management Ordinance, Chapter 184, will include the encouragement and expansion of Low Impact Development in new development and redevelopment. Examples of Low Impact Development include riparian buffers, rain gardens, bioswales, and pervious pavement. 

The proposed ordinance is available for review on the Township’s website, www.latwp.org, at the Municipal Services Center between 8 AM and 4PM on weekdays, or via email to Rebecca Davis, Director of Public Works, rdavis@latwp.org.  A public hearing will be conducted by the Board of Commissioners on August 8, 2022, at 6PM at the Municipal Services Center. You may contact Director Davis to address your comments and questions prior to the public hearing, and/or present them at the hearing.  After deliberation and consideration of staff input and public comments, the Board can enact the ordinance at its public meeting that will immediately follow the public hearing, or at a subsequent public meeting.
