July 4th Storm News
Storm Update – July 14, 2026, 1:30 PM
Public Works Extended Hours
The Public Works Yard Waste Facility will have extended hours from 8 AM to 7 PM on Thursday, July 16th for storm debris drop off. The Yard Waste Facility will also be open this Saturday, July 18th from 8 AM to 1 PM for bulk item/storm debris drop off. Debris may also be placed out for weekly curbside collection provided it meets collection requirements and is placed in your yellow yard waste bin.
Penn Waste
During the week of July 13th, Penn Waste is allowing extra trash pickup on all routes to assist with storm cleanup efforts. Penn Waste is offering to collect extra trash that is either placed in bags or in an extra personal cart (preferably extra bags are placed inside a cart). Extra pickup items placed in this manner must not be overly heavy; a single driver must be able to manually lift the bag(s)/cart into the automated trash vehicle.
Penn Waste trash and recycling collection will be starting at 5 AM on Wednesday, July 15th; Thursday, July 16th; and Friday, July 17th due to the expected excessive heat. Please place your waste bins curbside the night before, no earlier than 6 PM, to ensure they are ready for pickup. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as this is a safety precaution for the loaders and drivers.

Lower Allen Township Requests Residents and Businesses to Report Storm Damage
Lower Allen Township, PA — Lower Allen Township Emergency Management is requesting that all residents and business owners who sustained property damage during the severe storms on July 4 and July 5 report that damage as soon as possible.
Damage reports are being collected to support local, county, and state damage assessment efforts. The information will assist Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in evaluating the overall impact of the storms and determining whether state or federal disaster assistance programs may become available.
Residents and businesses whose homes, commercial properties, agricultural operations, or other structures sustained storm-related damage are encouraged to submit a damage report using the following online reporting form:

Residents are encouraged to submit a report even if they have already contacted their insurance provider. Reporting damage to the Township does not replace filing an insurance claim; however, it provides emergency management officials with valuable information needed to document the extent of storm impacts throughout the community.

Township staff are continuing to clear debris from roadways and help ensure safe travel throughout the Township. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews continue responding to storm-related impacts. Please be advised that Township staff cannot assist with or attempt to remove any fallen trees or branches if fallen utility lines are involved.
Road closures and traffic signal issues
There are two (2) remaining traffic lights awaiting power restoration. These include:

Lower Allen Community Park has power restored for the restroom facilities at the Barn and Fun Fort area. Please continue to use caution around fallen debris in Lower Allen Township parks.

To view the latest PPL outage information, please visit the PPL Outage Map. This map shows the affected areas and provides estimated repair times. PPL is offering bill credits for the purchase of ice and water to those without power from the storm. Save your receipts and check the website for more information on what is reimbursable: Ice and Water Reimbursement.
Please stay away from downed power lines and always assume they are energized and report them immediately. Please be advised that Township staff cannot assist with or attempt to remove any fallen trees or branches if fallen utility lines are involved.
Woody debris from the storm may be taken to the Township Yard Waste Facility at the Public Works Building, located at 1400 Saint Johns Road, Camp Hill, PA. The facility is open weekdays from 8 AM to 1 PM, and will also be open this upcoming Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 8 AM to 1 PM. Debris may also be placed out for weekly curbside collection provided it meets collection requirements and is placed in your yellow yard waste bin.
