Floodplain

Floodplain areas in Lower Allen Township are predominantly found along the Yellow Breeches Creek and the Cedar Run Watershed. Floodplains are typically flat or low-lying areas adjacent to rivers, streams, or other watercourses. These areas are subject to inundation from nearby water bodies or rapid accumulation of surface water runoff.

On August 28, 2023, the Board of Commissioners amended the Lower Allen Township Floodplain Ordinance in accordance with the Pennsylvania Floodplain Management Act of 1978, as amended by Act 65 of 2022 and the September 7, 2023 updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) by FEMA.
