At their February 28th Public Meeting the Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to appoint a 21‐member Public Safety Ad Hoc Committee to study Public Safety Services in the Township and provide a report to the Board by September 2019. The Committee will engage in an intensive review of police, fire, and EMS services from the historical, current and future perspectives beginning in April.
The last Public Safety Ad Hoc Committee was formed by the Board in 1997 and submitted its proposals to the Board in May 1998. Much has changed in both the Lower Allen Township community and the world in the twenty plus years since the last study, which focused more on fire services than the totality of public safety services.
The meetings of the Public Safety Ad Hoc Committee will be advertised and scheduled at various locations within the community to encourage outreach, public attendance, and input. Based upon the information developed, a final report and presentation will be submitted to the Commissioners. Minutes of the meetings will be taken and published an the Township website for interested community members to follow the presentations before the Committee and discussions.
Please continue to check back here for more information and to follow the Committees progress. Also, consider attending any meeting of the Committee as they work to develop what is essentially a Public Safety Comprehensive Plan and Road map for Lower Allen Township for the next 5 to 10 years. Unless otherwise noted, meetings will be held in the EOC Room at the Lower Allen Township Municipal Services Building. Please use main entrance by the flag pole and someone will escort you to the 2nd floor.
